Products being considered for insecticide, herbicide rodenticide, animal feed or food contact applications must pass through a complex regulatory review process before being cleared for experimental and commercial sale. The Office of Pesticide Programs of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administers this process. The registration process requires the submission of extensive data and information to allow the Agency to make regulatory judgments about the risks and benefits of various kinds of products under the criteria set forth in the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) and Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA). What are the key elements of this registration
process? The type and amount of data required by the Agency will depend on whether the product is being reviewed for conditional or unconditional registration with the latter classification being more extensive.
