Consortia and Partnership Development

Participating in Federal grant solicitations often requires the collaboration of multiple parties in a consortium. Finding the right parties with complimentary skills and goals is difficult. With a large network of companies, universities, national laboratories, agricultural groups and private researchers, Omni Tech is able to assemble a consortium of partners sized right for the task. This partnership can extend beyond participating in a federal solicitation to include Biobased researchers, manufacturers and marketers to commercialize new products. With our experience we help to develop win/win agreements that properly compensate all parties for their role in the product development effort and assure that intellectual property rights are preserved for the benefit of all involved.

Grant Proposal Preparation

Over the years of preparing multiple, successful federal proposals, Omni Tech has learned that it takes preparation and planning, not luck, to receive federal research funding. We constantly monitor new and recurring annual solicitations. Often we are developing proposal outlines months before a solicitation is even issued. We can also advise clients on what programs are most likely to accept certain types of proposals- which seek only fundamental research and which will consider support for applied development or even commercialization activities. When a solicitation is issued there may be only weeks to bring together the extensive documentation and budgets required for a successful proposal. With our experience we can weed through the legal boilerplate to focus swiftly on the crucial elements. Many of the standardized forms are already in our electronic files ready to be filled in with the appropriate data and circulated for signatures. We are also registered for use of electronic filing systems such IIPS and others. We have an experienced team in place to divide the many tasks from technical writing and editing to budget development and form submission. Nothing is more discouraging than to learn that your weeks of effort will not be rewarded even though your ideas were worthy but you failed to submit all of the right forms.

Technology Transfer

Reaching the right audience with the right technical message is a challenge, whether you are trying to recruit a partner, find customers or interest investors. Omni Tech can help find the right audience and deliver your technical message in the most appropriate language. We are bound by our secrecy agreements with our clients to protect their proprietary information and intellectual properties. We regularly advise clients on how much and when to share information to facilitate doing business effectively.

Technical Advisory Panels

People with ideas need resources and visibility among those now serving the intended marketplace. Equal energy is spent by established firms and agencies seeking emerging technology opportunities. A role of Omni Tech is to enable both parties to discover each other, and to develop a clear understanding of what the market will demand of a new product entry. Dialogue between researchers and potential partners can begin the process of building partnerships. Trade shows and technical meetings can be helpful in this regard, but may not always fill the need. To create dialogue that spans the gaps from research to commercialization and includes regulatory and end user participation, Omni Tech has developed market-specific Technical Advisory Panels or TAPs. These panels bring together interested parties from diverse portions of the industry to share and review nonproprietary research efforts and market information, offer market-specific guidance on that research and foster dialogue between all parties. Between annual or semi-annual TAP meetings, correspondence between parties is encouraged with research reports and small group meetings around more specific topics.

Solicitation and Evaluation of Project Proposals

For venture capitalists, trade associations, foundations or companies with a goal of promoting research in a specific area the process of obtaining good proposals and evaluating them can be a time consuming and difficult task. Omni Tech has the network to reach discrete audiences with the right experience to perform highly targeted research without broadcasting a solicitation or generating hundreds of off-target proposals. Our associates have the expertise to evaluate proposals for both technical and commercial merit. We assess the risks associated with proposed research and evaluate the ultimate potential reward. We help clients to rate competing proposals and select those most appropriate to their needs.

Agricultural Trade Association Support Services

With over seven years continuous service to the United Soybean Board, Omni Tech has managed and tracked hundreds of funded research projects, evaluated over a thousand proposals, met with hundreds of commercial partners, and facilitated the certification and launch of scores of new products. We understand the needs of both checkoff and dues-supported farm organizations. We have passed the audits of government agencies when handling checkoff funds and been praised for our thorough record keeping and project control. And we speak the language of agriculture. We know the needs of our farmer clients to develop new industrial markets that will be meaningful towards increasing farm gate value. Practical, pragmatic and easy to understand are our goals.
